Nadiah the smiling mother with her porridge.

” Nerve wrecking experience for first timers, despite having to deliver babies during housemanship“. That was my initial description to a friend in HTAA.

The delivery was complicated. Nadiah had primary post partum haemorrhage estimated blood loss to about 700 mls with uterine atony- and having to bear accelerated labour.  She had intense uterine contractions 5-6 in 10 minutes which the first time I saw her that she was in severe pain. Usually I will score her pain 1- 10 , 2-3 mild, 5 bearable and 7-8 moderate to severe, but this time the scale of pain was off the charts, She told me that the pain score 100 . 100/10 !

I was wondering whether, I could bear the pain or not. Apparently, Not !

Nadiah was no more the smiling mother.

But at 10.41 pm, I was lucky enough to witness my son’s birth. I was supposedly to be oncall, and more over, 1 st call Medical MO for that Tuesday 4th of January. Friends at the Hospital Kuantan, was very supporting that I was able to take Emergency leave on the day my son’s birth.

I had high expectations. I never knew the gender of the baby who is tingling my wife’s tummy. And I really didnt mind if IT was a boy or a girl.  Ayah and Mak were all geared up to see the baby. Mama and Abah were in worries to see the first grand children. Everyone was waiting.

To my surprise, I had a Boy. Unofficially in my heart was Khairul Jr.

Literally,he was  crying out loud and bright pink colored the color  rosemary.

Two hour post delivery, my son was a bit tachypnoic with respiratory rate of 60 per minutes. I was suspecting some transient and episodic transitions to life  for newborns. So, he had to be observed in NICU Hosp Serdang for the night.

I was up all night, catching glimpse of my wife whom bearing the pain on Pitocin,  and my newborn son to and fro from Ward and NICU.

That was my experience.

Palpitations and sweats for the father. Blood, pain and cry for the mother.

I was browsing through previous blogs, The expecting father and of Little Khairul Jr. Guess what! the day had come.

And, alhamdullillah all is well. Another chapter for Nadiah and me.

Baby X . Great day for Umar Faruq a.k.a Al hafiz ( Khairul jr.) for today.

My wife,  my son, my family and me. And, now Umar Faruq has his very own fan club.
